Wrapping experiences could be fun. Be creative. Ex: a limo wine country trip..you could give a bottle of wine with a custom label stating what the experience entailed or you could wrap a wine glass using a wine map or pamphlets showing the various wineries. This would me a great gift for Mom

I came here to say the same thing. I’ve had this list saved to my favorites for a couple years but wish it would be updated…

If you’re looking for the best family present try this book – Chess Puzzles for Kids by Maksim Aksanov – It uses a chess teaching method that has been perfected for over a decade, kids will LOVE learning chess through fun stories and exercises. This for sure will be the best experience gift.

This list obviously doesn’t work for everyone, as we’re all so different, but it’s items that I personally love. Some men wouldn’t like the items on the list either, as again, it’s based on things my family prefers, but won’t be for everyone 🙂

Seems a little antiquated. I mean, dad recs show skydiving or sports and mom recs are a day of pampering and sleeping in. What is it, 1950?

Oh my god EXACTLY my thoughts. I was literally going through the comments to see if anyone noticed this ridiculous difference between the gifts for mom and dad. Dad gets to skydive, mom gets a “poop in peace” certificate or some crap like
That. Um, does Dad do NOTHING for the house and kids all year around that you need to get sleep as a stinkin’ christmas gift?!? Lol. Do better.

Last year I sent my son to a French Summer camp. He spent unforgettable holidays with international teenagers in South of France. The camp is called FIL (Francais Immersion Loisirs) and they offer French original workshops on morning and fun activities in the afternoon. My son made new friends from all over the world and he kept in touch with some. I’m very happy about it because he enjoyed a family-friendly atmosphere and he learnt a practical French! I hope this post helps you to offer a great experience to your kids…

They are 3 and 5 1/2.
This year we got tickets fir them, their parents and ourselves to see Frozen on Broadway.
We are trying to come up with a way to present them with tickets and explain our gift of spending the day together.
Trying to find the right words.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hey – as you are thinking about going through your kiddos toys, consider donating them to a local early childhood education program — materials for young children in. Group setting can be very difficult to maintain.

Our community has options for giving to Salvation Army and other organizations that can “re home” the items to a child who can enjoy them like new .

We included the children in the exchange but always felt the responsibility of the purchase, wrap etc, etc, was ultimately left to the parents. Last year we did the exchange as per family, and it was great. Each family bought and received a gift which was a family experience. As it was not stuff, parents and children enjoyed their family gift together. Even as grandparents we were included in this exchange. Memories were made for all. We plan on doing this again this Christmas.

Is this age appropriate for 6 and 7 year olds?

I thought the same. Why are the dad gifts all fun and the mom ones so boring? The mom ideas are basically self care and family activities…ugh.

But your partner/spouse should be making sure you get those sleep opportunities and date nights throughout the year. Sleep is great, but it’s not a Christmas gift. As others have already mentioned, it’s a pretty lazy present from a partner.

Moms deserve fun, adventure, and effort put into their gifts too. I sincerely hope this list gets updated with some exciting options for mom in 2018 (instead of 1950). The kiddo and family ideas were helpful, but the stark contrast between suggestions for mom and dad just made me sad.

Thank you for sharing this ideas. I agree that experience will be something that will last more than any toys or material things. Doing something together is also a kind of experience that kids can remember. A great way to bond is by learning together too.

Shouldn’t she be already getting these on a regular basis?

They love nature, so they were happy. We also bought them a real star from heaven from the Kingdom of Universe. They were delighted. Now they tell everyone who visit us that they are the owners of one of the stars in the sky and show everyone who doesn’t believe the certificate and documents that hang in their room.

I have purchased concert tickets for their favourite bands in the past.

I agree and I am guilty of letting similar gift certificates expire. But if the gift giver had invited me to enjoy a day at the spa WITH HIM/HER I would have been all about that!
