We take our family to Amen Clinics. I apologize to brand drop, but they have helped our family thrive. They do support medication; but the work they have done for our children has helped us to avoid medications. Each of our children with ADHD (and myself) has a special diet, supplement, and exercise regiment. We have a strong extended family history of ADHD. I have a diagnosis and so do half of my children. My sister and all of her children have a diagnosis. As well as many of my cousins and several children of my cousins’.

The supplements work well, but wanted to ask if you came across any supplements that contained all the recommended. I’ve been on the look out but wanted to check with your awesome self and community.

I’m an older adult and began taking fish oil. After a few months I noticed blood spots under the skin and was told it was petechial hemorrhaging. When I researched it I found that fish oil can be a cause. I quit taking fish oil and it cleared up. I try to get it naturally by eating more fish rich in omega 3’s.

I don’t know how to deal with the symptoms of ADHD, he is so aggressive and out of focus on the things that he does. One time when he was playing his toys, he forgets where he puts it even he only leave it for a minute. At least now, I have any ideas how to deal with him and what to do.

With my daughter we used diet and activities to help her deal with her ADHD. We kept her involved in lots of physical activities such as basketball or cheerleading, we also didn’t allow her to have a lot of sugar in her diet. Doing these two things made a big difference in her life, she behaved at school, no longer needed medication, so she was now able to learn. My daughter is now a mother of two and in college full time. At one point I never thought I would see this day!! I’m very proud of her for not giving up.

I am a blogger also and just posted about vitamins that calm anxiety as an alternative to pharmaceutical medications. What was interesting in this post is that B vitamins are instrumental in cures for ADHD, similar to anxiety. I didn’t realize before writing my own blog post that B vitamins are so crucial to maintaining a stable brain and converting food to energy in the digestion process. One thing I also found in my research is that B vitamins are a crucial vitamin that the body is depleted of when we drink too much alcohol, just an interesting fact. Thanks for sharing this post!

Thanks for some of the supplement resources. I’ve been struggling to get my kids to take B vitamins, as they taste terrible. We use B12 and B6 patches, but I haven’t been able to find a multi-B.

I highly recommend talking to a sleep specialist if your child has a hard time staying asleep, has night terrors, sleep walking, snoring, insomnia, bed wetting, etc. The adhd may just be the body trying to stay awake during the day.

Peter, it has been widely documented and researched by doctors and is recognized by the American Psychiatric Association. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD and I can tell you first hand that it is real. Your belief is in my opinion unhelpful and unsubstantiated.

Research has revealed there are structural differences in the ADHD brain. It is a real thing! I would add to your post that frequent exercise and time spent outside in nature is also highly beneficial. I also feel that ADHD children tend to do better in an environment with consistent routine and structure. I think whether it be a home or traditional school, a lot will depend on the teacher and atmosphere of the learning environment. I’ve noticed all this with my own child. Though we homeschool, even the home environment can be distracting if there is a lack of structure and hroutine.

Wondering what harm you were speaking of that may come from taking fish oil supplements?
