In reply to Mia Gardner. Castor oil by itself is very thick and sticky and works better on hair if it's mixed with another carrier oil. Usually baby's hair will eventually grow/thicken on its own!

In reply to Karen. Castor oil is very thick and jojoba is also pretty thick. You could try mixing some castor oil with a much thinner oil, like grapeseed oil and spraying it on the hair roots so it doesn't grab the hair and pull it out. Then shampoo as usual after the 20 minutes.

I used caster oil and jojoba on my hair for 20 minutes and lost so much hair in the shower while rinsing it out. It makes me nervous to try it again. Have you heard of hair loss caused by caster oil? I have very fine thin blond hair and dealing with healing my thyroid disease right now.
Any tips or other people with the same reactions I would appreciate hearing!! Thanks!!

In reply to danielle. Hi Katie, thank you for all your recommendations. I have all made all your baby recipes. I have a newborn and she was born with very thin hair. Have you tried castor oil on a newborn baby? I was thinking of trying it on my daughter but a small patch. Would you recommend that?

In reply to Teresa. Some people don't do as well with coconut oil in hair, and it doesn't have the same nutrients that make it especially beneficial for hair growth like castor oil.

Can you use regular castor oil from the store? It seems pointless to state that a natural option is better than “fancier beauty products with a higher price tag” when the products you promote are way expensive. Any ideas for people like me who can’t afford to spend $18+ on a few ounces of oil?

Hey I started using castor oil about 1 month ago and within 3 weeks I noticed a lot of tiny hair sticking up at the crown , they’ve never occurred before so I was wondering whether they are new growth or what. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

Great article, Katie! I’ve always been a big fan of castor oil in particular. From my experience, it’s the best for hair growth! Have you tried tea tree oil before? I heard it works wonders for hair too.

Hi, sorry to jump on a comment, I couldn’t find how to comment.
You mentioned you mix up your own castor oil with another oil and herbs but I can’t see what herbs you use. I just seen the castor oil and the jojoba oil.
