I make these still today. I use comfrey in some of them the bug bites scrapes aches and pain etc. but found it to also be a great herb for my face. I use it mostly in the winter when the stick stays quite hard.
I just rub the lotion stick on my face in several spots and then finish rubbing in with my hands.
Must help some as i am about to turn 62 and was told by several that i have met since we moved to Arkansas, that i don’t look even close to that. Such a nice compliment to hear! I know as a rule i do look a bit younger but not by to much in my own estimation, however to hear this from others is so nice.
I hadn’t used anything this past couple of years after we made they move with all the work we had to do to get the property in shape and notice i am having the brown aging liver spots hanging around on my face. I am hoping the comfrey will help repair them again.
I always come back to your site to get my instructions as that is where i learned and it has served me all these years.

In reply to Sophia. I haven’t tried the cardboard dispensers, but I’m sure you could ask a friend who does use store bought deodorant if they can give you the container when they’re finished with it. Two birds with one stone - less plastic and a free container.

I am trying to make a hard Magnesium Lotion Bar for a twist up tube. Knowing that I have to use water in this recipe to melt the magnesium flakes, how much emulsifying wax/stearic acid do I use? I tried my first batch and there is a lot of water at the bottom of my tube.. Help! Any info would be appreciated!

I love your site and have had great success with your skin care product recipes, including the wonderful lotion bars. I did run into a problem today in trying to make the lotion sticks. I was using three 2.2 oz, clear, round containers. Very nice. When I looked at them in the refrigerator as they were cooling, I saw that each had a hole in the top of the lotion of 1/8″. In addition, one of the three containers had approximately 1/4″ of product that had seeped into the very bottom of the container, below the part that pushes the solid product up. Can someone please help me understand what I’ve done wrong? I always do a test run before sharing products with others, and the experiments go on my own counter. 🙂 Thank you!!

Good afternoon. What is the measured weight of your bees wax pastilles? I refine my own wax that I get from our friend who keeps bees. So I don’t have it in handy, measurable pastilles but I can weigh out a chunk to match what is called for in the recipe. Thank you!

I’m vegan and because of the way honey bees are treated, I don’t eat honey. Can this recipe be made without the bees wax?

I would love to make these. I love the scent of vanilla but it isn’t an essential oil so I’m not sure what to use that would have that scent but would be a natural fragrance. Apparently there is a vanilla oil you can get that comes in a small bottle that looks like an essential oil, but I have read that it doesn’t blend well in carrier oils. Do you have any suggestions? P.S. I just made your body butter and LOVE it! Thank you!
