I’ve been adding the right amounts of mica powder and when it solidifies I get no color when I apply it.
I’ve tried using different kinds of colorants , tea and grinding dried hibiscus into a powder but nothing is working?
They have color, lots of color, even when I open the jars after they set, but when I apply to my skin, no color at all. 🙁

I ordered the particular mica that you recommend on this post and made a lovely blush. Not long after, however, I learned that many micas frequently have dangerous heavy metals. And since we know manufacturers don’t have to be accountable, how do we know that Slice of the Moon is safe? I couldn’t really find any info from the distributor about testing or anything on Amazon….What to do?

My local zero waste store didn’t have red mica but it had a warm red iron oxide. I mixed that with a one-ingredient moisturizer (jojoba esters from Uncle Harry) and the result was CRAZY pigmented and long-lasting! Just 2 ingredients! Super impressed!

In reply to renee. Beet root or hibiscus powder is not oil soluble, It will be gritty anyway. You need to get either mica or red iron oxide! =)
